An Open-Source Phase-Field Platform for Failure Analysis
Phase-field fracture has emerged as a powerful approach for simulating crack initiation, propagation, and interaction across a wide spectrum of materials—including metals, rocks, concrete, soils, and other geomaterials. Many computational frameworks remain specialized or fragmented, making it difficult to address diverse engineering problems within a single consistent setting. Felino is designed for versatility: it supports coupled simulations of phase-field fracture, mechanical equilibrium, and heat conduction, extending seamlessly from structural metals to pressure-sensitive geomaterials. Its advanced capabilities include anisotropic material modeling (capturing asymmetric responses), integration with additively manufactured component analysis, and adaptive algorithms for efficiently handling large-scale or multiphysics problems.
Felino's goal is to provide a unified, extensible platform for fracture and multiphysics analysis, bridging state-of-the-art research methods with industry-relevant engineering applications.
